Description

Bilingualism has become an imperative today in our Arab region. Since the beginning of history, the region has been colored by a wide variety of spoken and written languages that sometimes competed, disintegrated or adapted with the new languages that replaced them. The contemporary era also shows a new linguistic interface influenced by the region's post-colonial era, globalization, new learning requirements, and the growing cultural exchange in today's world. This is why our region's visual communicators, designers, design educators and students - are becoming aware of the importance of bilingualism and its associated variables in design. But how can we respond effectively today to the need to preserve our Arabic language in its visual and moral context? Hence, this book highlights the theoretical and practical methods of bilingualism in visual communication, and it helps in identifying the challenges of bilingualism in eye communication, and in analyzing those challenges as well. It also sets the framework for new design rules found in bilingual meanings and forms designed in visual contexts in the Arab region. The ultimate goal of the book is to help students of graphic design and visual communicators understand how two visual and lingual systems go together to create effective communication.
