Aseer Alkotb, Dostoevsky, The Poor

The faces that we see in this work, which is the first of Dostoevsky's work, we will fall on in his other works. They are the faces of the “poor” and their forms of life. We share their torment as much as we realize the capacity for love and sacrifice in those souls. In this novel, we will touch the depths to which Dostoevsky will penetrate, and the metaphysical depths to which his novels will go in diving deep into the dimensions of the human personality, especially in depicting the lives of the poor and marginalized and entering their psychological worlds around which most of his novels will revolve. The two invalids in this narration are persecuted, tormented, humiliated, and humiliated, the wicked inflict all kinds of injustice on them, and they endure unbearable poverty. Makar endures humiliation and hunger and sacrifices everything he can obtain, which is very little, for the sake of the poor girl whom he hardly sees, and does not dare to visit her for fear of gossip. He accepts deprivation for himself in order to make her happy, so he sends her small gifts, bearing cold, hunger and humiliation. Through the poverty that Makar Devushkin suffers, Dostoevsky reveals all the poverty that surrounds him, and when a man complains about the torment that the good people suffer in this world, we see him return to retreat from complaining and grumbling, accepting reality, submitting to the will of fate, his only concern is to make others happy with a naivety that carries a soul in its simplicity Amazing humanity.
