Description

Victor Hugo was born in Bisenzo on February 26, 1802 and was the son of one of Napoleon's generals. He followed him with his brothers and his mother to Italy and Spain. At the age of twenty he published his first work, Lyrical Poems. Hugo defended the principle of freedom in art and wanted himself to be the resonant echo of the moral, political, and literary concerns of his time. As of 1830, all his efforts sought to prove that he was the true lyric poet in France. The issue of the misery of the people occupied his mind a lot, and it became an obsession. He was cut off from the ruling party that was only interested in establishing a policing system - at full speed - capable of ensuring the absolute silence of the poor towards the rich. Hugo lived a solitary life, drawn to heavy family tragedies. His novel "Les Miserables" - which he began in 1843 - was completed and published in 1862 AD, and Hugo died in Paris on May 22, 1885.
